John Nelson handsomely visualized the Ring of Fire in this map of global earthquakes since 1898. This is the polar projection of a more common image floating around the Internet.(I tried, but I simply could not discover when the term “Ring of Fire” was first used to describe seismic activity around the Pacific Ocean.)
